Where are you going?/Iceland (2010)

Öndverðarnesholar - West Icenald, Iceland (2010, 6, 20)

'Today' was a kind of last day in Iceland because our flight tickets were for 'tomorrow'. Thus, we wanted not to miss anything to enjoy, but, still, the top of Snafellajökull was covered by thick cloud that did not allow us to imagine how high the mountain was or how gigantic the glacier was. Jules Verne´s novel could help us to reveal that mystic scenery, but, well, I was not so big fan of reading his novels. Anyway, instead of the top of Snæfellsnes peninsular, we were heading to the tip of the peninsular, Öndverðarnesholar. The lonely standing light house welcomed. The red-yellowish color surrounded green glass mixed with moss and spotted by black volcanic stones was pointed out although it was not enlightened. Stone walls built by ancient iceland fishermen guided us the shore.

Eroded stones by wave were scattered on the shore. Still, the sea water splatting were breaking the stones, and these "future" pebbles might become not only smaller and smaller, but also darker and darker. When waves were crushed on top of these stone beds, it was like whipping cream on the chocolate chips. In retrospect, there was a few chance to dip my hands into sea water in Iceland. Mostly, we were on the road, in the car, and watching over the car window. The splashed water on our skin refreshed us like sweet cookie and cream on our  tongue.

A rock cone, sweet home  or dirt toilet of sea birds. Black and white were harmonious enough to create fantastic scenery, but if you zoomed in, you would realize the marbling mark on the surface of the cone was composed of black volcanic rocks and bird poops. What a beautiful (Irony?)! Anyway, the cliff provided us picturesque nature scene.
